Message from the Director
The 2020 tournament season is knocking at the door, and with only two tournaments left on the 2019 schedule it is time to start gearing up for the new year. The NWGA EB Ladies Pro Tour is coming off a record setting 2019 season giving players nearly $65,000 in sponsored purse contributions and performance bonus awards. Our title sponsor, Egglands, Best, will continue to support the players in 2020. Since the partnership with Eggland's Best in 2017, the players competing in our events have enjoyed over $110,000 in additional purse and performance bonuses.
2020 will bring about some significant changes in tour operations which will allow us to continue to provide the players with a competitive tournament environment, allowing them to develop and hone their skills in preparation for a career in tournament golf. The two biggest changes players will see in 2020 are lower entry fees, and the implementation of a 36 hole cut for all 54 hole tournaments. The new entry fee has been reduced to $400, however, with the support of our sponsor, players will enjoy a $2500 1st place guarantee for all tournaments. In addition, all tournaments with a full field of 72 players, an extra $1500 will be kicked in to guarantee a $4000 1st place prize.
The 2020 tournament schedule will run 13 tournaments from January to mid April, concluding just before US Open Qualifying begins. The season will end with the Tour Championship where 1st Place is guaranteed a $10,000 payday, and 2nd through 4th will receive Q-School Bonus of $2500. Currently, there are no plans to operate tournaments in May-June-July. However, if we have enough interest we will put a some two-day tournaments strategically scheduled in those months. We will need a minimum of thirty players to pay a $100 registration fee for the summer. This fee is incorporated into the Winter/Summer membership option. If there are not at least 30 players selecting the Winter/Summer option prior to January 15th, we will not schedule anything during those months. All players who did select the option will be refunded the additional $100. This fee allows the tour to cover the deposits needed when scheduling tournaments. We will continue to operate the Q-school prep events in California in August, and our 2021 (and future years) schedule will begin in September and run through April every year.
We would like to congratulate all of the players who played well this year, not only on our tour but in other events as well. I think we had over 50% of the players who advanced through stage one competed in the prep events, and we were well represented in stage 2 and the Q-Series. Three of the top six players on the Volvik Race for the Card money list were members/winners during our Winter events. $15,000 went to the top six on the Egglands Best Points List; Sandra Angulo Minarro ($5000 Player of the Year), Kasey Miller, Jessica Welch, Monifa Sealy, Jessica Porvasnik, and JB Baik all received $2000 Q-School Awards. Several of our members either won or had top five finishes in State Opens, and provincial championships in Canada.
Membership and registration is now open for 2020. Current members who register before November 30th will receive a $100 discount - paying only $375. Check your email for renewal code, or contact the tour if you did not receive it. The NWGA and the team from Eggland's Best wish you the best of luck for 2020.
